So, at the moment there seems to be a bit of discussion as to the merit of going to wedding fairs, I have seen some wedding blogs telling people not to bother going but I just don’t agree – why I hear you shout!
Wedding fairs are a great source of inspiration, when you first start your wedding planning the whole thing can feel very daunting, there is a lot to do and where do you start? There are lots of people out there giving advice and lots of blogs you can read too but I always feel that seeing things in person and talking to real people bring clarity to ideas and can make you think about things you hadn’t even considered!
I would also prefer to meet the suppliers in person who I want to work with on my big day and wedding fairs are a great opportunity to do this, you can chat to them, see some of the work they have done previously and see the other suppliers they work with regularly.
I like to have a nosey at the catwalk shows at wedding fairs, although I personally don’t think they help me choosing a wedding dress, it’s just nice to see some of what’s hot and what’s not!
Finally going to wedding fairs can be a great way of spending time either with your other half or with your friends getting in the mood for wedding planning, you may get a glass of bubbly on the way in, a goody bag with treats in and to test some amazing cakes, sweets and other treats on the way around. So, my advice is choose some wedding fairs with a good reputation, if you’re not sure ask around, some suppliers will tell you where they will be and other friends may be able to give you good wedding fairs to visit. I would also say visit big wedding fairs and local wedding fairs, they are very different!
Here are some of the pictures I took last year at various wedding fairs, enjoy!
I will put up a list of the wedding fairs I will be attending this year soon and I hope to see you at one soon!
